Winfred Wanjiku Muchiri, known as DJ WIWA, is a Kenyan DJ and disability advocate who became an internet sensation after millions watched her mix tracks using her feet. Born with cerebral palsy in Kirinyaga County, a condition that disabled her arms, Wiwa learned to operate turntables with her legs — and in doing so created one of the most compelling stories in East African music.
Encouraged by her late mother, Wiwa enrolled at a DJ academy in Nairobi in 2018. She has since performed at international events including the Baobab Summit in Rwanda, the Beijing+30 Review Consultation in Ethiopia, and is set to perform at the Zero Conference in Austria.
She founded Wiwa Entertainment — offering deejaying and sound services that also mentors aspiring talents with disabilities, free of charge.
